A hugin-0.7.0_rc6 (release candidate 6) tarball is available here:

This is a release candidate, i.e. the final release may be
identical. There have been a number of changes since rc5:

* Lots of OS X fixes including 64bit and gcc-4.2 support.

* All the relevant images from the manual have been added to Help,
this increases the size of both the source tarball and compressed
packages by about 1.5MB [bug# 2091014].

* EXR is no longer offered as an option for 8bit LDR output [bug
#2102552]

* Japanese translation updated.

* Polish translation updated.

See README, ChangeLog and INSTALL_cmake for more information.

This release is equivalent to svn 3421

Hmm, I can understand the confusion it creates, but there is one valid
usecase for it: Stitching existing HDR files into an EXR file. The HDR
output options are only used for the "Merge to HDR" workflow part.

Anyway, if tiff output is used, HDR input images can be stitched easily
so this is not a bad restriction. Ideally, nona and enblend should be
fixed to allow output to EXR format, even if 8 bit input is given.

Ippei,
I hadn't realised ... so thanks for pointing it out! and of course
thanks for creating it!

I downloaded it last night and have since stitched a couple of
panoramas.

Each time I was using my usual type of source image:
(6+1-up+1-down) x 3-bracketed-exposures all shot on a 16mm lens on a
Canon 5d
and stitched as a high-dynamic range 360°x180° equirectangular image,
using auto-pano-sift-C for control point generation.

They both seemed to come out OK.

However each time there has been an error message at the end saying
that "There has been a stitching error - please report the whole
text" (at least I THINK that is what it said I have sent it away now.

I have the text in case it is needed ... but I suspect that there has
NOT been an error really and that the pop-up is a false alarm.

On Reflection there IS a problem.

The stitched images seem to have a horizontal black line all the way
along just below half-way up.
I think it is just a single pixel.

I have the stitch re-running on an earlier version to see whether it
is the current version or my current project.

I have tried stitching it again with Version 0.7.0-svn3398M

This one also announced in a pop-up that "There has been an error
during stitching" and again the final image has a horizontal black
line one pixel wide all the way along just below the mid-level.

It is present both in the ..._exposure_00.tif and the ... fused.tif
file.
I have checked the ...exposure_layers_00XX.tif files and it is not
present in any of them.

So those that imply that it is emblend that introduces this line?

I have kept the text of the "Running Commentary" window and it is
reproduced below.

(I have done a couple of global exchanges to abbreviate some of the
file names and paths.)

This sounds like the lines were added by enfuse (the exposure_layers
files are created by nona, hugin then merges stacks with enfuse,
then blends with enblend).

I can't reproduce this with either a recent enblend-enfuse snapshot
or the 3.2 release.

Does this happen to all panoramas or just one with particular
dimensions? If so what are the pixel dimensions of the panorama
with the problem?

So I'm planning on renaming this and uploading as 0.7.0 in the next
day or two.

I assume that the OS X dmg file can be just renamed too. Note that
we don't seem to have a Windows installer to put on sourceforge, so
this will have to follow later, though please correct me if I'm
wrong.

Based on past experience there will be a lot of people looking for
downloads after we announce a release, so anyone with Windows
binaries in their web-space may find a lot of extra traffic.
ie. there are builds on http://hugin.panotools.org/testing/hugin/
Do we need to clear this page and copy the most recent binary to the
sourceforge download system?

This is correct s such, but when starting Hugin the splash screen claims to be a 0.7.0 RC6 as well as the about box. It need to be recompiled and packaged. So this can't be done. Ippei uses a nice template for his dmg's. It might be best that Ippei builds it. If he's not able to do it, I will.

complete instructions and files to build an installer are in SVN.

The installer files themselves need some polishing - a good learning
experience for somebody interested to learn how to build windows installers.

I will help troubleshooting the process, whoever takes it on.

Sure I could do it myself, but the objective of the game is to pass on
the knowledge to the next team member and earn a contributor to the project.

The most difficult part of the process is quality assurance. That does
not require other skills than time, patience, and working systematically.

The workaround for PPC is probably preventing the stitching to work
properly.
Anyway, I couldn't pinpoint the problem by briefly going through the
code. Please file the bug on the tracker and we'll try to fix it in
the future release.

Ok, I won't just rename the DMG.

Yes, anyone is welcome to translate it any time. I've corrected a
couple of words and moved it to a more translatable location:

If you have SVN access, just commit a
"htdocs/releases/0.7.0/nl.shtml" translation and edit
"htdocs/releases/index.shtml" to link to it.

Did you already create a 0.7.0 "final release" (updated changelog and so on)?
It's not that I'm so impatient. It's more that you might be waiting for a bundle from me (or Ippei), but I don't know where to get the source.

I'm just going to rename and re-upload the rc6 tarball, i.e.
hugin-0.7.0 is already released. I'll do this upload soon
hopefully.
