I figure I'll go lighter for the run. I'm  not stopping often enough to
feel the cold through my feet once I'm on my way. It's the walking about
that can be an issue.

Re: New Balance - I had a pair of the original Minimus Trail as I
transitioned to fully minimalist/BF running/walking and quickly grew tired
of the binding of the balls of the feet/toes from the inflexible whatever
that was across the shoe's "uppers". Has that been fixed? I'll have to take
a look at a few pairs in one of the local shops.
Can't beat the Lunas for toe and foot freedom, especially once my toes
widened out from minimalist everything. But ice, snow and slush? Not the
best, no matter how great the socks.
