it's seem that the "process filter" and the filter (All process/Web/
Non-Browser/...) doesn't work since 2.2.7.9 for me

"Since 2.2.7.9" meaning that you have that problem in that version?

Is the Tools > Fiddler Options > "Map Socket to Originating
Application" box checked?

Can you email me (Help > Send Feedback) a small capture (File > Save >
All Sessions) showing this problem?

thanks!

Yes, if the process column is empty, that's what is causing the
problem.

Are you running Fiddler on the same computer as the traffic is coming
from, or are you using Fiddler to debug traffic from another machine?
The process information is only available for traffic on the local
computer.

I am using fiddler as local proxy and i haven't made some modification
between 2.2.x and 2.2.7.9

Fascinating. Can you try 2.2.7.5 from here: http://www.fiddler2.com/dl/fiddler2setup.exe

The process-determination code was last updated in 2.2.7.8 to make it
faster, and I haven't yet found a case where it doesn't work.

thanks!

Also, can you send me the Windows build information shown when you
START > RUN > winver.exe

Thanks!

Very, very strange. Can you try the alpha version?
https://www.fiddler2.com/dl/fiddler2alphasetup.exe

If the process column is blank for traffic from local browsers, can
you look at the Log tab and tell me what you see?

thanks,
Eric

Fascinating. That means that all of the API calls succeeded (no
exceptions were thrown) but somehow no match was found. The really
crazy thing is that the older version works correctly, since that uses
basically the same code.

Do you know if there's anything unusual about your configuration (e.g.
you installed an IPv6 stack for XP, or you used the Fiddler QuickExec
prompt to set preferences to set the egress adapter)?

If you try with the latest alpha https://www.fiddler2.com/dl/Fiddler2alphaSetup.exe,
the log tab will show even more information that I might be able to
use to troubleshoot this.

I'm amazed that this took so long to hunt down. Thanks so much for
helping me isolate the problem!

The problem only repros on 32bit computers; there's no problem on
64bit machines. I've fixed it in version 2.2.8.1:
https://www.fiddler2.com/dl/fiddler2betasetup.exe

Eric's .NET learnings of the day: C++/WinAPI's ulong is ALWAYS 32bits,
unlike C#'s ulong. See http://medo64.blogspot.com/2009/05/why-ulong-is-32-bit-even-on-64-bit.html.
It's not fully clear to me why this didn't also blow up on 64bit
machines, but that's an investigation for another day.
