Can't set "target=_blank"?

I am using TinyMCE in my Drupal installation with the HTML purifier.
When I set the link to open in a new window, TinyMCE applies the
"target=_blank" to the anchor, however when I save the page it gets
stripped out by the purifier. I didn't see where to avoid this from
happening in the configurations. Can anyone help?
