WHNT has photos but they need captions.

I'm surprised that there isn't a Hartselle story posted.

Has anyone seen any interesting places with debris lines in the trees and such?

Did they find that guy who couldn't get out of his car?

Haven't seen water lines in trees, yet.

Years ago I thought it was pretty stupid to build houses on Blake Bottom
near Jeff Road. Am thinking as of this morning the occupants of the
house closest to Indian Creek (the creek, not the road) are also
questioning the wisdom. That one had standing water in the front yard.
Not too many years before those houses were built that creek flooded
over the road. If that happens again it will flood 3 or 4 houses.

Old Madison Pike between Bridge Street and Sullivan also had a lot of
water, but didn't see any evidence it had crossed the street.

Part of Bankhead Parkway was washed over this morning. Police and
Barricade. I now know what it's like to drive through a hurricane. I had
to drive around 20 MPH to make it up the mountain yesterday afternoon.

I'm of mixed emotions of the Hampton Cove flooding. I feel sorry for the
homeowners, but I hope the greedy developers get the hell sued out of them
for ruining a beautiful area with McMansions and for lying to people that it
wasn't in a flood plane. What do expect if you're surrounded by mountains.
The rain isn't going to stay up top. Guillable people.

Back when I was working at Renaissance, I remember Mark Derrick
announcing that HiWAAY was moving off the mountain to the old Heart of
Huntsville mall. I asked him if he thought that was an okay location,
since it had flooded before, but he apparently didn't remember.

Little did I know that he'd be gone and I'd be at HiWAAY when the mall
flooded again in 2003! I had people calling me to tell me my car was on
TV with water half way up to the door handles. We kept the water out of
the NOC and power/telco room, and then we moved the NOC to higher ground
3 months later. :-)

I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble.

Mark Derrick is a name I haven't heard in a while. Where did he end up.
What a strange trip he was to work for.

He moved to Florida (Ft. Lauderdale I believe) and opened a scuba diving
shop (equipment, tank refills, etc.). AFAIK he's still there.
