About the Terrorist Act in Makhachkala

HRC Memorial's Statement

Another terrible terrorist act happened in Makhachkala, Dagestan, on May 2, 2012.

As a result, 13 people died and more than a hundred were injured, they were law enforcement officers as well as civilians.

Terrorists proved one more time that they struggle for fair - in their opinion - society and state regardless any victims among population.

Terrorist act was obviously aimed at destabilization of the situation in Dagestan. Three days earlier, on April 29, meeting between representatives of Spiritual Authority of Muslims of Dagestan and Association of scientists Akhliu-sunna which follow different branches of Islam took place in Makhachkala. Cruel force action that followed peaceful dialogue between ideological opponents exacerbated situation in the republic one more time.

Terrorists are trying to wreck all attempts to consolidate Dagestani society with all their might.

Human Rights Center Memorial expresses deep condolences to the relatives of the killed and wishes rapid recovery to the injured during the terrorist act.
