The previously mentioned Shuttle X27D (Intel Atom 330, dual core
processor with Intel_64 and other Core 2 Duo-type features) appears to
be a "dead" product, no longer available from NewEgg, one of the many
"usual suspects" sources of OSx86 products.

Enter SuperMicro, usually a source of high-end server motherboards and
complete servers.

Their board-level product is ...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182205

... and their complete server product is ...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101262

... both of which are actually "barebone" products, as was the Shuttle
X27D.

I have previously detailed how to get a desktop Intel Atom 330 up to
10.6.7 with all updates and everything working (everything which I
could check out to my satisfaction, of course).

Here are the software basics:

1) Snow Leopard 10.6 (AKA, 10.6.0) or 10.6.3 full legal "retail" DVD,

2) iBOOT Legacy, from tonymacx86's site,

3) MultiBeast, also from tonymacx86's site,

4) 10.6.7 Combo Update, from Apple's site,

5) 10.6.7 Legacy Kernel Installer (Google is your friend, here), and

6) my GMA950/ICH7 DSDT, from the Files section of this site.

Now, NO version of 10.6 will successfully boot on an Intel Atom
desktop version without iBOOT Legacy, and that is usually enough to
get the 10.6 or 10.6.3 Installer to install an instance of MacOS X
installed on the target's hard drive.

However, that is NOT enough to get a self-booting MacOS X on an Atom
330.

You MUST have the legacy kernel for the version of 10.6.x which you
intend to operate from, and that usually means 10.6.7.

Also, to get all devices, particularly including USB, to work, you
must have my DSDT.

My DSDT also provides a GMA950 device which supports all resolutions
and also CI and QE, using only Apple's kexts, meaning there will be no
cursor sticking or other anomalies.

My DSDT also provides a generic HDEF device, with which the 0.2.1
version of Voodoo from MultiBeast will provide basic (read, 2.0)
sound, at least for the Shuttle X27D.

While I DO NOT own either of the SuperMicro products, nor the Intel
board level product from which the SuperMicro products were obviously
developed, I DO own and use a Shuttle X27D, and it has been operating
flawlessly for more than a year on 10.5.6 and 10.5.6 Server (10.5.7
and 10.5.8 are not an option, due mainly to lack of available
kernels), and I have been operating for the best part of a month on
10.6.7 with no KPs or other issues.

If there is sufficient interest, I will try to provide a Guide.

However, most experienced hackers will know how to properly use the
referenced programs.

Just uploaded is ...

X27D Snow Leopard Kit.zip

... which SHOULD be in the Shuttle folder, but it was added to the general
folder by accident.

No matter as the Kit is usable on any Atom 330 (or similar) product which
has a GMA950 and an ICH7 or ICH7R.

With a little bit of tuning of the DSDT, the Kit will work on an Intel
board or a SuperMicro board.

Possibly even a MSI Wind PC (the nettop, not the netbook).

The Kit includes the 10.6.7 Legacy Kernel Installer. The other required
components are available from tonymacx86's site (iBOOT Legacy and
MultiBeast).

Have you tried to use NetbookMaker/NetbookInstaller for this. It looks
very much like
the Atom's run quite nicely with it...

That was the FIRST place I looked, and I was not surprised when it did not
work. Couldn't even get the Apple logo splash screen. Hung up in the BIOS,
somewhere.

An X27D is just like any other desktop Hackintosh in that it has a
standard Northbridge (GMA950) and a standard Southbridge (ICH7) and
standard peripherals (R8168-compatible LAN).

A Netbook usually has a GMAX3100 Northbridge or a proprietary Northbridge
and it may or may not have a standard Southbridge. Everything else about a
Netbook is non-standard.

So, wanting a purely vanilla solution, once I found out about iBOOT
Legacy, I was off too the races, and 30 minutes later I had 10.6.7 booting
on my X27D

Based upon the LSPCI info (snipped), it APPEARS it should work.

It did not however (I DID try it), and I found an alternative which was
100 percent for a DESKTOP Atom 330.

I'm not interested in a solution which is 100 percent for a LAPTOP Atom
330, but which might take an indeterminate amount of time to hack to work
100 percent on a DESKTOP Atom 330.

As it was, I was up and running on 10.6.7 (from the 10.6.3 "retail" DVD)
with all Software Updates in about 40 minutes.

I don't expect the reverse to work, either ... using iBOOT Legacy and
MultiBeast to install on a LAPTOP Atom 330.

There are differences beyond the monitor, the keyboard, the trackpad and
the so on. Certainly including the Atheros LAN and Atheros WiFi. And the
who-knows-what audio.

Which Atom 330 DSDT are you looking for?

1) Shuttle X27D, or

2) Supermicro Server 1 GB, or

2) Supermicro Server 2 GB, or

2) Supermicro Server 3 GB, or

2) Supermicro Server 4 GB?

I once produced a combined folder which had all four Supermicro DSDTs, but
the machine on which that resides is presently down with a PSU problem.

i was hoping to try using your  6) GMA950/ICH7 DSDT that you mentioned in the first post in this thread. I have a d945GCLF2 Atom330 board that your list worked really well for... but I needed the last bit of polish you sound like you had worked out already.

regardless, thanks in advance.

Perhaps this will help.
