GA-P35-DS3L on ML

I have finally cracked the code on this one and it's now booting via the hard drive. The problem turned out to be my Nvidia 8400 GS of all things. Or more specifically, I had to remove the NVDAResman.kext from /S/L/E to get it to boot after the initial install of ML on the hard drive.

Once I did that, the system booted, but of course I am limited to 1024x768 resolution and no QE/CI. 

But I do have it booting on it's own now with sound and ethernet both working.

One other odd thing was that the DSDT I had been using since my SL days would not let the system boot properly. I found one on OSx86.net and I'm using it right now.

I'm able to follow your guide (GA-P35-DS3L - Mountain Lion - UniBeast v1.52) successfully.

Only the sound that I have a problem with. I'm not sure what version of the MultiBeast you were using by the time you wrote this guide. I have version 5.02 and the option to select the sound is different from your guide.

Your guide have 

• Drivers & Bootloaders>Kext & Enablers>Audio>Realtek ALC8xx>Unified Device Injector>ALCxxHDA for Legacy ALC888 and ALC888b/887
• Drivers & Bootloaders>Kext & Enablers>Audio>Realtek ALCxx>AppleHDA Rollback

but here is what I see in the MultiBeast 5.02. Could you please tell me which on I need to use?

The ML version of MultiBeast was not available when I did this, so I used the latest Lion version of it. I believe it was v4.61. 

Also FYI, my DS3L has the straight ALC888 in it.  HTH

Oh...Thank you. I just use the Lion version and now I got the sound successfully. :)

The Gigabyte P35s all seemed to use ALC888. Even my Shuttle P35.

The ALC887 and ALC892 came much later.


I really "lucked out" with ML.

My first install was to an hp/Compaq with a non-ALC codec, hence the
requirement for Voodoo.

However, had it had an ALC<something> I would have stumbled on the audio
issues with ML much sooner than most.

Voodoo 0.2.1 is still working for me, and none of the usual KPs with the
later Voodoos.

I used the special boot loader which came with the iHackintosh ML
installation guide, at least initially.

THEN, I went back and used MultiBeast for other purposes, but mainly to
get Voodoo 0.2.1.

FINALLY, I changed from the iHackintosh-provided Intel LAN kext to the
MultiBeast-provided one.

Probably too involved for most folks, but I was running with the developer
edition of the system (GM ... same as the released version) and tonymacx86
still had a discussion ban on ML issues.

I'm having trouble with sleep/wake. I can't wake the system from sleep mode do you have this problem also?

And maybe cosmetic but my drives are being shown as ''external'' do you know what might be causing this?

There are many reasons why sleep/wake doesn't work correctly. I usually put a disclaimer in my guides stating that I NEVER use sleep so I don't bother trying to see if it even works or not. If you have to have working sleep/wake, remember Google is your friend and good luck.

If you followed the guide, this should have been fixed using this MultiBeast option from step 5:

• Drivers & Bootloaders>Kext & Enablers>Disk>IOAHCIBlokStorageInjector

Repair permissions doesn't work either. Any idea?

My DC7800 SFF (Lion) and my DC7900 CMT (Mountain Lion) are pretty much the
same.

NEITHER has IOAHCIBlokStorageInjector

AND BOTH display internal drives with silver icons and external drives
with orange icons.

Of course, the DC7800 doesn't actually have ACHI, but it uses a special
kext to simulate it.

The DC7900 is as cleans as it gets. ACHI in the BIOS and the only hack is
FakeSMC.

my advice is to live with the orange icons.  in my experience with hacks, if you get too aggressive fixing one problem you often generate a new, and worse, problem.

My install went amazingly. Perhaps the easiest install I've ever done. I had a supported EVGA GeForce 210 card (that I've used with SL). The first two times I rebooted the system I got the dreaded CMOS reset issue, but it was gone after the 2nd reboot. THANK YOU! My MB is rev 2.0, btw.
