*Expert knowledge on Oracle DBA functions in an UNIX environment running
SAP products.*

*The Senior Analyst, SAP Oracle DBA is responsible for managing and
administering the Oracle database's used heavily in the Scott's computing
environment. In this role the DBA will support databases that are integral
to more than five SAP landscapes which include SAP R/3 (ECC 6.0), HRIS, BI
7.0, SRM, Enterpris Portal, PLM and other add-on application products. The
SAP Oracle DBA is a techichal expert who understands oracle database
administration for databases that are supporting SAP applications. The DBA
aligns and adjusts support strategies such as back up/restore, disaster
recovery, refresh and change management to be supportable by basis and
infrastructure teams. The DBA evaluates, directs and supports Oracle system
enhancements and performs quality assurance functions.*

*Key Work Performed:*

*•           Provide day-to-day Oracle and Infrastructure Support including
performance tuning. *

*•           Provide senior level technical (hands on) support for project
and/or operational issues, for all SMG platforms. *

*•           Provide expertise on the "Best Practice" procedures for *

*o          Oracle Database layout *

*o          Performance tuning methods for both Oracle and SAP *

*o          Backup and recovery expertise for Oracle and MAXDB *

*o          Disaster Recovery *

*o          Provide knowledge transfer to other members of the team*

*•           Perform system refreshes for QA, development, and training
systems. *

*•           Manage, Plan, Schedule, Coordinate, Perform Quality Audits to
ensure that Scotts standards are followed in all Basis work performanc by
the Basis and Infrastructure consultants*

*Complexity:*

*•           Trouble shooting and resolving complex technical issues that
impact system performance or availability. Typically these issues require
an in depth knowledge of not only the Oracle and SAP technical areas but
also knowledge of core infrastructure services such as DNS, networking,
database administration and storage systems *

*•           The time varies on a case by case basis, depending on the
complexity of the issue. Some issues can be resolved in an hour, whereas
other issues may require extensive troubleshooting and assistance from
other areas, and make take serveral days to resolve. *

*•           Candidate needs to be proactive and current with the best
practices in this rapidly changing environment and should be willing to
learn quickly about these technologies.*

*•           The job holder needs to be able to provide expertise on the
"Best Practice" procedures for *

*o          Oracle Database layout. *

*o          SAP Overall Design. *

*o          Performance tuning methods for both Oracle and SAP. *

*o          Backup and recovery expertise for Oracle and MAXDB. *

*o          Provide knowledge transfer to other members of the team.*

*•           Experience:*

*•           10+ years of experience with Oracle database administration,
with *

*•           6+ years administering databases that support SAP applications.

*Knowledge:*

*•           Expert knowledge on Oracle DBA functions in an UNIX
environment running SAP products. *

*•           Conceptual and practical knowledge of IT technology,
techniques and methodologies in a tiered client server environment and web
based environment. *

*•           Oracle Architecture/DBMS Technology. *

*•           Excellent understanding of Oracle Tablespace designs and
implementation for optimal space usage: *

*o          Determine "Best Practice" methods for Table reorganizations *

*o          Oracle Index Structure and optimal index design for better
performance *

*o          Review current index usage and recommend rebuilds and possible
redesigns for performance *

*o          Use of BR*TOOLS for Oracle reorganization *

*o          Develop plans for space savings in conjunction with SAP
Archiving *

*o          Develop plans to reduce the size of the databases which in
affect reduces the disk usage to save money and resources *

*o          Deliver and test Oracle upgrades in a timely manner***
