Generator light recommendations needed

I'm looking at getting a generator setup and I'm looking for opinions on lights. I've got it down to the Supernova E3 and the Edelux. A standlight is important to me so that's covered. I'm torn between these two lights as it seems that the E3 will better illuminate roadside signs because of its circular beam at the expense of extra light over the horizon into the eyes of an oncoming person or a cyclist in front of me, whereas the Edelux might be better for riding in a group at the expense of sign readability.

Does anyone have any opinions either way or any other suggestions?

A helmet light is good for reading signs and letting side road traffic
know you are coming. This in addition to the frame mounted light

Several of the Lone Star Randonneurs including myself have the
Edelux. A couple of riders use the Super Nova. I've done side by
side comparisons. The Super Nova does indeed shine more light higher
than the Edelux but its beam isn't nearly as smooth or even. The
Super Nova beam appears "blotchy" compared to the Edelux beam. After
side by side comparison I wouldn't trade my Edelux for the Super
Nova.
I don't have a helmet light but I think it would be a good idea.

I second the recommendation for the edelux, although I don't think you
can go wrong with either one. The new LED lights are a huge
improvement over halogen lights, which are still pretty darn good.

Helmet lights (or headband lights) are a definite necessity. Aside
from reading street signs, checking the cue sheet, etc., while riding,
they also make fixing a flat much easier in the dark.
