Randos,

On June 9th Dana and I are hosting 405K and 200K brevets from the LaQuinta Inn in Brookshire.  We roll at 6:00 am.

The 200K is the trusted Independence route.  The 405K route is a new route that goes to Caldwell through Texas A&M University.

Sign up will be from 5:00 am to 5:45 am in the breakfast area at the LaQuinta Inn.

Here is a spreadsheet Bob set up on Google to add your name too:

On Sunday June 10th we will do a 90 mile (137K) recovery ride to Columbus and back.  We will depart the LaQuinta Inn at 9:00 am.  Let me know if you want to join us on that too.

Last year Dana, Sharon, and I test rode this 405K route and it was a fun route on a lot of new roads.  It was cool riding through the streets of Texas A&M too.

See you in a couple of weeks,
Gary G.

Gary,

I'm going to put myself down as a "maybe" for the 400k, hoping I can get a ride down from College Station.  If I'm unable to get a ride or work out the logistics, if someone sends along route/control info. for stops near Texas A&M, I'll try to make it out with some treats/etc. for the 400k riders.

Well, folks, I won't be able to make it down to Brookshire due to some time/logistical constraints.  So instead, a couple of us College Station folks will be doing a 200k permanent out of College Station that's owned by Dennis Cook: the Reville Ramble.  "A couple of us" might just be myself and boyfriend Scott...It looks like there's a chance we'll see you somewhere between the Carlos store and College Station - look for the mountain bike with the big picnic basket on the front, and have a wonderful ride, everyone!

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."   can also be rephrased as

"When a cancelled 24 Hours in the Canyon gives you leftover bananas, make banana nut bread."

So I did last night, and will bring it to the brevet start tomorrow.  I'll have baggies if anyone wants to put some in their packs.  No SAG, so it will only be at the start.

Howdy, HR folks,

I hope the 200k and 400k went well for everyone.  From talking to Dennis, it sounds like we wound up about 1-2 hours behind you when you stopped in at the Carlos Store - Dennis met up with us at our control in Shiro and gave us the rest of your pizza, which we promptly gobbled up.  So, I just wanted to say thank you for that.  Hopefully we'll be able to make it down to Houston for more brevets in the next couple of months...we shall see.  In the meantime, if anyone ever wants to come up to College Station to ride one of the permanents, get in touch. :-)
