I measured 600 ft of total "climbing" on the 200k perm from Fulshear to El Campo. Lots of rice fields in that area!

No, all the other perms require climbing. Although, if you want to
make a trip, Edward Robinson has nothing but flat rides down in the
valley.

On the other hand, if you stick with the climbing perms, you will get
better at it.

Have you thought of putting an electric motor on your bent? I know
it's against the rules, but it can be just be our secret. ;-)

Don't rely on the perm list on the HR website. It is for information
purposes only. Perms are not run through local clubs or RBAs, but
through perm organizers. The RUSA website is the authoritative source
of perm information. You can do a search for active perm routes
there.

I rode it from El Campo to Fulshear and back in December of 2007.
Nice ride, save for the last few miles into Fulshear and back, there
is very little traffic.

I had a very cold start though in El Campo - upper 20s. It did not
warm up until I was on the way back from Fulshear. It was probably in
the upper 50s/lower 60s at the finish back in El Campo.

All things considered though probably a better wintertime ride, if you
encounter rice fields in the summertime it will create a a very humid
subclient when you are passing by. Not that it's not already humid
enough in Houston in the summertime...

Definitely give it a try, Ben. They don't get much flatter.

particularly in the midst of steamy Houston summers - but the spirit
of randonneuring dictates the we start off with the intention of
finishing.

Organizers will try to accomodate requests, but it's not always
possible to arrange things just a couple of days before you want to

Speaking for me only, I do not charge for my perms, and you must
select the day and time you want to ride when you ask permission to
ride the perm. 4 days advanced notice required. If you state the date
and time, then decide on the day you do not want to ride it, just send
me a note saying you will not ride it.

Fair warning though, too many requests to ride followed by too many "I
didn't feel like it" will cross a rider off my list. Fair enough?
