Cornyn Says "No" to Trials for Criminals

For many years - as much as 8 or 9 in some cases - several suspects in a
violent crime have been in custody.
Soon, President Obama has ordered that they will be transferred to federal
custody to stand trial.
Likely - they will receive the Death Penalty.

In response, Sen. Cornyn (R., TX) has issued a statement against putting the
criminals on trial.
Instead, he says in his statement, they should be treated as prisoners of
war.
That means giving them full military honors and releasing them when the war
ends.

The other Senator from Texas, fellow Republican Hutchinsion, agrees.
She says that turning criminals over to the US justice system would increase
the danger to Americans because the justice system itself cannot be trusted.

In a related story, both senators issued statements during this very same
week, telling taxpayers that not buying health insurance will be a crime
punishable by prison time.

Yes - that's right. In one breath they say the justice dept doesn't lock up
criminals, and in the next they say it'll lock up the uninsured.

About the same time as a "war on drugs", perhaps?
