When the Evangelical Republicans seized control of the government, almost 10
years ago, serious damage was done by them to the Air Force Academy.
This happened because they brought with them their hate-based faith -
attacking and harassing cadets who did not join their religion.
Folks who were not Evangelical Republicans, but who wanted to represent
their faith, were denied permission to do so.
Under the new president, change has come to the Academy.
Whereas, under Bush, those requests were categorically denied, under
President Obama, all religions are given equal rights.
One example of this new freedom is the "Earth-centric" place of worship.
It provides a place for prayer and meditation that was forbidden under
Evangelical rule.
Another example is that rules that already exist, but were not enforced by
the Evangelicals, will now be again enforced.
One of these is the prohibition against officials ordering cadets to observe
Christian practices.
While this prohibition was ignored under Bush, under President Obama the
rule is being enforced.
The result of these efforts is fewer complaints by cadets.
During Evangelical rule, there was an average of about 70 complaints per
year of religious harassment and discrimination by Evangelicals against
everyone else.
Now, that number has dropped to only about 10.
Of those, most are complaints by Evangelicals against allowing other
religions to be represented.
