US Tells GOP to Sit Down and Shut Up

Today, the Senate voted in favor of funding the US government.
This outraged Republicans, who demanded that funding be cut for the
government.

The anti-government extremists offered a compromise, saying they would vote
to fund small portions of the government.
When they saw that they would not convince Americans to de-fund the nation,
they tried a filibuster.
They hoped that by just standing there talking, eventually Americans would
knuckle under.

Instead of supporting the Republicans, Americans voted amongst themselves to
force the Republicans to sit down and shut up.
The measure passed.
