Subject: Re: Hosted Apps Website Site Settings page broken
Hey All,

I got real tired of waiting for Google to address and fix these issues
(after all it's not their site that's down) so I wrote a quick Hack to
get around this bug. As you can see from my original post in January I
never did get a reply from the Google team on this issue and it took
way to long for it to get fixed first time around.

Also, Please don't ask or email me about tips and tricks to hacking
the GPC API as this is not my intent, but only to provide a means to
get around this error so people can set their homepages and get back
out of that settings page without it crashing your browser. I have a
pretty good idea of the causes of it and if the Google team feels so
inclined to email about my findings I will share, but I won't hold my
breath on it.

Anyways moving forward, I did this using Firefox 2.0.0.12

When you open Firefox create a custom bookmark in your Bookmarks
toolbar. I called it "Hotlink Hack" and for the URL properties
(location) add the following Javascript

javascript:var TR_IsBrowserSupported=function(){};TR_initSettings();

Now when you need to go into your settings page, GPC will give you the
error as usual (and nothing will work), click the "hotlink hack"
bookmark and it will display a message saying "Google Page Creator
does not fully support your web browser. Some actions may not work."

Now I am able to change my homepage setting and have it work. I tried
it with several pages and including no-homepage and back again. Seems
to work well for me.

Just to be clear though, there are other variables that "should" be
passed in there also but I am not going to go in to too much detail
about it, just providing the "bare minimum" to be able to set a new
homepage and exit the settings page.

Hope this helps :-)

Cheers!
