1) The official google gmail notifier program doesn't work with the
GFYD accounts.
2) You cannot add pictures to contacts like you can in regular gmail.

Its been normal for GFYD to roll out newer features at a slower pace
then the standard Gmail service. I assume this is to allow for some
time to buffer out any obvious bugs from the GFYD users. They tend to
trickle in over time. If Google were to offer a published change log to
allow us to keep track of when they arrive that would be great!

for the gmail notifer for GFYD you will need to download the gtalk at
http://talk.google.com  this software is only one that will work for
hosted accounts.

The stand-alone Google Talk client does not work with GFYD accounts.
Short of POP delivery of new emails, there is currently no other method
of notification available for GFYD accounts. Whatever solution they
decide to implement, I hope it allows for notification of both my Gmail
and my GFYD account at the same time.

In the meatime you can use the Gmail Notifier extension for Firefox -
works beautifully (and this is what I've been using even before having
a GFYD account).

I retract my statement GFYD does not work with Google Talk. I simply
did not have it enabled for the domain in the administrative Dashboard.
As soon as I did, Google Talk was more then happy to let me login using
my GFYD user account information.
