Subject: CIPA Compliance & K-12 Schools using Google Apps
Question 1

Is Google Apps email CIPA compliant?
Example: Teacher wants students to colaborate via email, word or
spreadsheet on a project. The teacher would be set up as a gateway
meaning all emails would be sent to teacher first then teacher
releases content after confirming the comment is appropriate.

Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA)

Question 2
Can you provide links to any K-12 schools that are using Google Apps?

Thanks

Hello slhawk98,

First off, you can find a list of our case studies (including K-12
schools) at this link here: http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/admins/customers.html

As for legal compliance, Google Apps does not currently have anything
written into it's agreements that guarantees compliance.  As you
probably know, compliance is set up by the user of the technology and
not the technology itself.  With that said, Google can be set up in
such a manner that it will comply with legal requirements.  For
example, if you would like to set up a mail gateway with an approval
system, this can be done.  We have partners that can do it, or you can
set it up yourself.  Here is a link for more information:

I hope this helps!  Cheers!
