I've checked all the online sources at my disposal (Google/the Google News
Archive, It's an Honour, the NLA, other newspaper archives that I have
access to, etc) ... but I can't find the first name of a female athlete. Her
name begins with J, and she won a gold medal in the javelin at the 1984
Summer Paralympics:

Does anybody here know her first name or any other information about her?
Regards, Graham
I just checked in our master spreadsheet of athletes. You guessed it - her first name in the spreadsheet is "J".
I will start to make some wider inquiries and see what we can discover.
This is an era about which we have a shortage of information at the APC at the moment. The focus of the history project so far has been more on the early years of the Paralympic movement and our in-house records are understandably most complete in relation to the period since our establishment in 1990. Thus the 1970s and 1980s have some very large gaps at present!

TN

Thanks, I'll forward this to the IPC ... that'll be one way to provide
proof, once her full name is listed on the website.
