Clean installation ＆ suspected virus infection

Mac OSX 10.6.8 on Mac Proです。

1-1)　Virus infection が疑われた場合、anti-virus software を使う
代わりに:

　"汚染の疑いあるHDD全体を eraseし、OSを clean install する"

ことで完全に virus を駆除できますか?

1-2)　Mac OSX 10.6 で実際にお使いの anti-virus software をお教え
願えませんか。


2)　Mac OSX10.7 (Lion) に upgrade することで unusable になる
applications には:

　"MS Office, Quicken のそれぞれ古い versions"

のほかに、どのようなものがありますか?　ご経験を共有させていた
だけると助かります。

1-1) Yes, if you erase the entire HDD you will erase all data,
including any "virus".

However, apparently, no viruses exist in the wild that run on Mac OSX.
What makes you think you have a virus? Maybe you have just downloaded
some malware?

1-2) Try downloading the free "anti-virus" software for OSX below, and
scan your disks for any malicious files/programs/cookies.

2) Any software that is designed to run on the older PowerPC platform
will not run in Lion. You can check which software you are using is
PowerPC by opening Activity Monitor (Macintosh HD＞ユーティリティ＞アクティビティモニタ)
and looking in the "種類 " column. Open MS Office 2004 programs or
Quicken, and next to them under 種類 it will say "PowerPC". Any program
with "PowerPC" next to it will not run in Lion.

数週間前から、週に二回程度、わたしの顧客を含む4～5件の宛先に：　

　　「英文雑誌かニューズレター」のような1ページものの文書を添付したメール
　　（本文メッセージなし）をわたしのアドレスから勝手に発信しています。

　ただし、この数日は止んでいます。上記スパムメールの宛先には、別途ご注意（添付物
を開けないよう）と謝罪のメールを発信しました。一部の宛先（大手）では自社の
サーバー段階でこのメールをブロックしてくれました。

　上のスパムメールを勝手に複数回発信するものを、わたしは自分のMacに取り付いた
virus ではないかと思ったわけです。

　　これはMalwareなのですか？　Virusではないのでしょうか？
　　よく言われているようにMac OSXに取り付くvirusは今でも存在しないのですか？

早速試してみます。

You are more than welcome!

If I understand what you have said correctly, it seems someone or
something took control of your email account. Is your account password
simple and short? If so, try changing it to something more
complicated. At least, change it. And all your other email accounts.

You could also try changing your admin password on OSX.

Also, run Software Update to make sure your computer is up to date
with any security updates from Apple.

If the Sophos software finds anything, it will probably be a virus for
Windows that has been accidentally sent to you by someone using an
infected Windows system. Because it is for Windows, it will not run on
OSX at all.

There is one well-known Malware for OSX, below is a link on how to
find it and delete it.

　分かりました。すべてのemail accountsとOSXのpasswordを
変更します。

　新規のpasswordsは "Finnegans Wake" を逆さまに読みながら、
創成します。

　はい、そうします。

　はあ、それでこの数日活動していないのですね。兵糧尽きて
死に絶えたか。とすると、わたしのMacの中のどこかにヤツの
死骸が転がっているわけですね。

　週末に全部処理し、後日private mail（after a thorough
disinfection, of course) で結果をお知らせします。
