It maybe a complete 蛇足, a "wide screen" means, I believe, is a screen with
a specific aspect ratio.
Therefore, a screen with one inch diagonal measurement can be a wide screen
as well.
In the meanwhile, the expression '6.5" wide screen' can mean a wide screen
with a diagonal measurement of 6.5" but it is not a very accurate statement
as it does not specify explicitly whether 6.5" is a diagonal measurement or
the width (or horizontal measurement) of the screen. It's still a matter of
convention.
