Jens, I really hope we can close this thread now.
Yes, Betsy. Too many things have been said that are unrelated to translation (but fascinating nonetheless.)
Going back to translation, I should have acknowledged your follow-up disclosure posts to let you know they are not being ignored, before returning to a single sentence which was the object of my comment: ネガティブ論調の発信源は、せいぜい10人程度です。
これを抑えてば、何とかなると思います。 おっしゃる通り、個別撃破のつもりでいきましょう。 (やるやらないは別として)
'The interpreter shall be impartial and unbiased and shall refrain from conduct that may give an appearance of bias or conflict of interest. '

Betsy, we all know there's always more to the story than meets the eye, and the truth runs deep. I don't think I want to take your above statement (and your core message as a whole) to mean that 'because they ARE evil and criminal already, they deserve to be portrayed as such, and what they said should be translated USING incriminating words.' I asked earlier: 'can you SEE how differently that comes out from what the source text is actually saying?'
An idea can be expressed in many different ways. Herman and I provided the tone. Regardless of Herman's position on this matter, my understanding of this particular snippet agrees with his version, and I really don't see how this tone can come out different, with any amount of additional contex information. The question is of comprehension at a basic level, not to single out anyone, but to learn as a whole.
