If the courseware covers the full stack of Web-based software development,
I think it's entirely possible to meet the "Employable" goal in 12 weeks.
Probably not a "Senior" level position, but enough to get into growing
companies at an entry-level position and get promoted from within.
In Hawaii's case.. If any organization would train someone with HTML5,
CSS3, JQuery(AJAX) and basic Ruby on Rails 3.2 skills, I'd take a serious
look at their students' resumes and pass them around to colleagues if I
have nothing immediately available. I'd hire or contract a student rather
quickly if they can also demonstrate a mastery of Authentication and
Authorization toolkits, or they have a particular aptitude for popular
Regression Testing frameworks.
I applaud Catalyst's efforts, and look forward to seeing their results.
