Some of us were talking about throwing a Halloween party at the space on Saturday the 27th. We talked it over with Rechung and Tony, and it sounds like they might be extending the party into Box Jelly space as well.
What say the rest of you? How does Saturday the 27th look? We need volunteers to pitch in some decorations, food, booze, etc. I'm thinking maybe a costume competition? =) Any ideas?
I have two CDJ-200s and a four-channel mixer I can volunteer. I can
also find some DJs; primarily Goth, Industrial, synthpop, and EBM.
But, I can find DJs in other genres too.
I'm the creator of Nephilim Halls (Nephilimhalls.com). And we recently
just "expanded" into the event productions field (facebook.com/nhprd).
So feel free to throw ideas around and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the offer but I think that a DJ would be overkill for our
event (and we don't want to get *too* crazy), although the mixers
would be cool. Personally I'll probably bring a cooler with beer.
A costume competition would be lots of fun. I'm thinking maybe have it
be some sort of community voting.

yeah, I get the not "too" crazy part. I was thinking of keeping it
small and low key. I suggested DJs because people tend to argue less
about the music compared to someones ipod or something. Between the
lot of us, we could probably hack together a simple sound system for
it.
Depending on how many people are coming, pitching for keg might be
cheaper by volume. I can also spot a bottle or two of liquer. I'm not
much of a beer drinker.
Costume competitions are fun. I don't know if anybody is into geek
drinking games or not; like the UNIX Admin challenge or the TCP/IP
drinking game.

This does sound like fun. Have you used the Google Events features that allow people to uplaod video/pictures live during the event. I haven't had the opourtunity to try it out yet, but this sounds like one of those times... online voting for those of us that can't make it! -Bryan
A bunch of makerspace geeks getting drunk live on the internet....
Well, we all become a meme sometime or another...
