Hi All-
The city will be talking about urban ag at their work session on
Tuesday. There won't be a vote, but it's just staff checking in to see
if council wants them to proceed.

In a nutshell, staff is proposing the following changes:
It's a work session and not a regular meeting where council votes.
Basically, staff is proposing land use code changes for the following
two things:
1) establishment of an urban ag licensing system in all zone districts
2) allowing farmers markets in more zone districts in the city
And city code changes in the following four things:
1) scaling the # of chickens allowed based on lot size
2) allowing ducks
3) allowing two pygmy or dwarf goats
4) updating the beekeeping ordinance to reflect best practices (I
actually want more info about this--it's not clear to me)

Procedurally, the way it works is that staff asks council if they should
move forward, council says yeah or nay and then an ordinance is
eventually drafted. Calling council at this point is important just too
make sure it moves forward, but the vote won't take place on Tuesday.

The whole shebang--the info that will be presented, planning and zoning
notes, etc. on Tuesday, 5/14, can be found if you go to
http://citydocs.fcgov.com/?cmd=show_related&vid=72&dt=SUMMARY+AGENDA&rid=May%2014,%202013
and click on item # 2.
If you're really feeling nerdy, you can see the video that was given to
staff to prepare for Tuesday's meeting at:
