So many people have rallied together at the last hour to help make this
event
become a reality. Thank you all so much for all of your support and
efforts--
this event couldn't come together if it wasn't for you!

It's down to crunch time. Here's what's going on:
Dinner's all set- spaghetti dinner for 500, right next door at
St.Peter's
Parish on Memorial Drive. $3 bucks for adults, kids 12 and under are
free
with a paying adult. (You couldn't pay me to find a cheaper night off
from
cooking than that)
We're still trying to figure out the logistics for making 1000 of
Dottie
Soucie's famous "Dottie Balls" for the spaghetti sauce, and there isn't
much
time! Is anyone out there able to pick up an extra pack of hamburger,
eggs,
grated cheese & bread crumbs when they do their Sam's Club shopping
this week?
I've some volunteers and place to make the meatballs, but not the
ingredients
or extra money to pick them up. We're also searching for donations of
bottled
water and other soft drinks. Ocean Spray has graciously donated 10
cases of
juice, but we're still coming up short on the drink supply for the
entire
weekend. Calls are out everywhere, even to local restaurants, but I'm
beginning to over-tap resources, you know? Can anyone help? Drop us a

Memorial Hall is open at 5 for dessert and coffee upstairs in the Blue
Room
(Thanks for dinner, Sam-- and coffee, Mary Lou's!) There will also be a
place
for kids to create cards for the soldiers. We'll be mailing everything
out
with our featured package to troops programs, so get busy with the kids
and
create away! Our families overseas love opening boxes with hand made
cards
from us in them. The Blue Room will close at 7 for the Main Hall show
and
open back up for 18+ entertainment later in the evening.
We've lined up some great auction and raffle items in the hall of
flags. Make

are
being toward the auction. Thank you to everyone who's helping make this
auction happen. It couldn't happen without you!
The Blue Room and Hall of Flags will feature a mix of auction works
from local
glass artists, painters and sculptors. Many thanks to our friends at
the
Plymouth Community Art Center and Guild for donating, and putting the
word out
to members about our search for artists. They've been super busy
preparing for
their Annual Art Show at the Library , the weekend of the 16th, and
have still
found time to help us by putting the word out. Thank you Malissa and
Andrew!
I'm still looking for a jewelry maker, so if anyone knows someone who
might be
interested, ask them to email me at streetteam@homefronthero.org.
Proceeds
raised from the silent auction are being donated to registered non
profits
Homes for Our Troops, Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops, the L.C Jeffrey C.
Burgess Recreational Fund and the VFW Post 1822 Package to Troops
Program.
All fantastic causes...
Now for the entertainment portion of the evening. In the Main Hall:
Suzanne
Tonaire from PIXY 103 will host the entire night. Colors will be
presented at
7pm, followed by Mrs. Fonseca's Hedge School Choir students performing
the
"Star Spangled Banner" and "American Tears" by Teresa Jennings. (It's a

More word to follow on whether or not Mr;s Fonseca's students from Cold
Spring
will be joining us.
Mrs. Fonseca will then trade her teacher hat (something she loves
dearly)
for her performance hat, (something else she loves dearly) and hit the
stage
with the Kristin Fonseca Band at 7:15, followed by the Evan Goodrow
Band ,
Oneal Armstrong, and Third Left closing the night. If you are
unfamiliar with
any of these cats, by the time the night is over, you'll be hunting
down their
next show. Trust me. You're all in for a treat.
We've also lined up the Blue Room! (and what a beautiful room it is!)
At 8:30, Bill Downes sets the mood, followed by Sara Leketa and Mad
Session.
This is a super fun bill, meant for the 18+ crowd... I encourage all of
you to
check out the events page and click on the musician links for sound
bites.
We have wine, and beer on tap. Everyone will be ID'd and wrists banded
to
drink. You must have a valid Massachusetts ID in order to purchase and
drink
alcohol. The Legion has plenty of beer on tap and Pioppi's is helping
us with
wine choice and a tasting. Many thanks Peter and John for the last
minute
preparations!
In between music sets, we'll highlight our featured support programs:
John
Gonsalves of Homes for Our Troops, 12 year old Alan Burgess of the L.C.
Jeffrey C. Burgess Recreational Fund, Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops,
founded
by 12 year old Dylan DaSilva- and we'll talk about exactly what does
the VFW
Post 1822 put in their packages to the troops and what does it take to
get a
package there? How can you get involved? We'll also be announcing
silent
auction winners later in the evening. You must be present to win
anything up
for raffle or bid that night so stick around!
YOU decide what the cover charge is...
There's no "cover charge" to get in, per-se, everyone's welcome -- but
if you
contribute to the 50/50 raffle and stay all night, well, if we draw
your
number at 10:55 pm, then you walk away with half of the door money!
Doesn't
get any better than that folks...
Make sure you pick up a program booklet Friday night and hang on to
it-- You
know someone, or someone knows someone else who could use the
information
inside. It's got great resource information on support services
available to
families who need it, and it highlights the EXPO attendees for
Saturday.
Someone you know is bound to be in need of this information! Saturday
lasts from 10am-5pm and is hosted by our friends at WATD in Marshfield
(--Thanks to Ed and Christine for all of their support!) Come on down
to the
back parking lot of Memorial Hall Saturday and say hi to them at the
truck!
We've got some great military displays, including Abb's moon walks for
the
kids, popcorn and drink machines, hoops for troops- more letter writing
for
packages, face painting... something for the whole family. Inside
Memorial
Hall, Veterans and families will gain on the spot, immediate access to
private
counseling, job placement, financial assistance and more. This is an
important
day full of valuable information for Veterans and families everywhere,
so if
you know someone who needs assistance, please help them get to Memorial
Hall
on Saturday. This whole event is meant to help Veterans and families
from ALL
wars, not just the most recent. This is not about the war, nor
politics- it's
about the men and women, building stronger communities, healthier lives
and
people, who, and when, they need it most.
