Respected Vishnuji,
Saadar Pranaam.
First of all let me apologise for addressing you as Vishnuji instead of Bishnuji. As I am also from Rajsthan ( My family is strictly vegetarian!) we always pronounce V as V and not as B.
I will narrate a small incident in this regard. I dont know the authenticity of this incident because I was not present while it happened.
Once one close Devotee of Swami Ramsukhdasji Maharaj (I personally believe, He was last Saint born on this earth!) asked Swamiji, "Maharajji, you always PRAISE Ramakrishna Paramhans in your pravachan, but at the same time you also strictly believe in Strict Vegetarianism! These both things are contradictory! Ramakrishna used to eat Fish! So how it can be that He was a Great Saint you call him?"
Ramsukhdasji became very serious and then asked the Devotee, "Have you ever been to Hrishikesh? (Maharajji was in Haridwar at that time!).
Devotee: Yes Maharajji.
Maharajji: Have you ever seen Neelkanth Parvat in Hrishikesh?
Devotee: Yes Maharajji.
Maharajji: Have you ever noticed a small whole in Neelkanth Parvat?
Devotee: No, Maharajji. I HAVENT NOTICED THAT WHOLE!
Maharajji: WHEN YOU LOOK AT NEELKANTH PARVAT, YOU LOOK AT THE ENORMOUS HEIGHT AND SIZE OF MOUNTAIN! YOU APPRECIATE THE ENORMITY OF MOUNTAIN! YOU DONT LOOK AT THE INSIGNIFICANT SMALL WHOLE IN THAT MOUNTAIN! KHABRDAAR, NEVER TALK ABOUT THIS TOPIC IN FRONT OF ME!
Respected Vishnuji, This topic is such a topic which is NEVER ENDING TOPIC! On the contrary, I strongly feel that PRESENT DAY DETRACTORS OF SANATAN DHARMA KEEPS ON RAISING SUCH DOUBTS IN "OUR MIND" every now and then. I remember reading in one interview given by "A very Prominent present day Leader of a political party" said, "What is wrong in my eating Meat and Fish! Even Ram and Krishna used to eat MEAT AND FISH!
I hope, you will give a sincere thought to what I have mentioned, (not because I am saying all this as Moderator!) and REST THIS ISSUE AMICABLY.
I very well understand your anxiety and concern and it cleary shows your DEVOTION and FAITH IN HOLY TRIO AND RAMAKRISHNA VIVEKANANDA PHILOSOPHY!

The points Bharat Ji mentioned is very true, that today's politicians, evangelists are using these issues deliberately to denigrate Sanatan Dharma as Sanatan Dharma is only concentrated on eating veg or non-veg, leaving the core part.
When Swamiji first introduced "Shiva Gyane Jiva Seva", the other cult of Sannyasi of Bharat ridiculed monks of RKM as "Bhangi Sadhu (sweeper monks)". Now these concepts is considered as true Vedanta.
So, please do not consider these issues of veg or non-veg as big as NEELKANTH PARVAT.
