1)  Congratulations to our very own Carol Applegate

Every year since 1999, Hugh O'Brian Youth has been recognizing two outstanding volunteers each year from the hundreds nation-wide as their "Volunteer of the Year.'  This year, and HOBY's Training Institute, our very own Carol Applegate was honored as this year's recipient.

As HOBY Maryland, we can all speak volumes of how deserving Carol was of this award for her going on 25 years of service to HOBY and what will be her 6th consecutive and 9th year overall as seminar chair.  It has been said before, but it is hard to imagine a HOBY Maryland without Carol.  As just a small taste of what Carol means to all of us, HOBY International received an unprecedented nine nominations on her behalf this year.  When you see Carol next time, give her a HOBY Hug and hearty congratulations.

A more formal recognition ceremony to mark this award will happen either in November at the New York Albert Schweitzer dinner or next summer in DC at the WLC banquet.  Once it is determined which it will be, we promise to let you know, and everyone will be invited to attend to show our support.
