Greetings from House of Musical Traditions!

Some important workshop updates for this weekend:

Jim D’Ville’s “Play By Ear” Ukulele Workshops on Saturday have filled
to capacity. However, Jim is doing the same workshops Thursday night
(tomorrow!) at Appalachian Bluegrass in Catonsville, and there are
still slots available there. We got some people inquiring today that
we had to turn away, so we hope they’ll get this email! Info at
http://www.appalachianbluegrass.com/events – call them for a
reservation.

We do still have open spaces in the Taiko Drumming workshop with Mark
H. Rooney, also this Saturday. Details at http://hmtrad.com/lessons/workshops.html#taiko.
We still encourage pre-registering so we can give you the location
information (this will be held at the Dance Exchange on Maple Ave. in
Takoma).

And we just confirmed the details for L’il Rev’s ukulele workshop in
November. It will be posted very shortly on our website, but here’s
the rundown:

Jug Band Styles for Ukulele with L’il Rev
Friday November 11, 7:30-9pm with an informal performance afterward
$35, open to all levels. Will be hosted by our new neighbors next
door, ArtSpring. Contact HMT to register.

Also upcoming:
Irish Mandolin Workshop with Orrin Star, October 15:

Mountain Dulcimer Discovery Workshop with Thomasina Levy, October 22:

Bluegrass Rhythm Guitar Workshop with Orrin Star, October 29:

“Strum For the Holidays” (Ukulele) with Maureen Andary, starts
November 19:

We highly encourage advance signups for all workshops. In most cases,
space is limited, and signing up in advance also allows us to
communicate any important logistical details to you.

The Capital City Cheesecake open mic returns this Sunday, with
featured artist Beggar’s Ride (http://www.beggarsride.com). Runs from
6-9; sign up in-person only at 5:30. Featured act plays in the middle
of the evening. An incredible evening for performers and listeners
alike!
