Greetings from House of Musical Traditions!
Announcement about some special fundraisers for Jaqui Macmillan:
Jaqui has been our djembe teacher for many years, introducing hundreds
of folks to the world of drumming through her "Drum For Joy" group
classes and private lessons. Even after moving to Westminster, MD, she
continued to trek to Takoma Park to continue her classes here. Now,
she needs our help. She was recently diagnosed with a large abdominal
tumor and has surgery scheduled in late November. She does not have
health insurance and has not been able to qualify for medical
assistance.
HMT is planning two fundraising events to help this wonderful woman:
1) An open drum circle at the Gazebo on Sunday October 30, 1-3pm.
HMT's Stream Ohrstrom will be the facilitator. Bring any drum or
borrow one from HMT. Donations will be collected for Jaqui (cash or
checks made out to Jaqui Macmillan).
2) Through November 13, we will donate 15% of all djembe sales to
Jaqui's surgery fund. So if you've been thinking about buying a djembe
for yourself or as a gift, you'll also be helping Jaqui if you
purchase soon!
For more ways to help Jaqui, join the Facebook group at
https://www.facebook.com/groups/jaquimacbenefit . If you would like to
make a donation and can't make the drum circle, information is there
about how to donate directly.
Also, breaking news on the ukulele class front!
Maureen Andary has added a second session for her “Strum For the
Holidays” uke class so we can accommodate more people! The second
session will be 1-2pm on Saturdays, November 19, December 3 & 10. For
more information, see

. Register now – the first session filled up!
