[Definition]:
"Alternative Music" is hereinafter defined as follows:-
---Generally, music which is or deemed to be alternative to the
mainstream pop music from the point of view of Hong Kong music scene.
---Includes:  Rock Music in broad sense (e.g. Hard Rock, Metal, Punk
Rock, Grunge Rock, Gothic Rock etc.), Post-Rock, Techno, Blues, Trip
Hop, Rap, Hip-hop, Drum 'n' Bass, Acid Jazz.
---This definition is not conclusive.

The purpose of setting up hk.rec.alt-music is to provide a place for
people who are interested in Alternative Music to discuss such music
and anything that is related to it. The area of discussion may consist
of live concert information, opinion towards particular artists/bands
and their music, musical instruments employed in playing such music,
guitar and bass guitar scores,  history of such music, news from
artists/bands and certain organization relating to such music,
classified post for band member recruiting, and so on.

[Languages]:
As it is expected that most of the target readers are people
in Hong Kong with a minority of foreigners who cannot read Chinese,
the articles of the newsgroup is expected to be in Big-5 Chinese
(which can be altered when the coding changes) and English. Articles
in hk.rec.alt-music are not welcomed with codings like GB Chinese.

[Morale and Ethics]:
To keep a good atmosphere for the discussions in hk.rec.alt-music,
hk.rec.alt-music supposes to have the following standpoints towards
cross-posting and foul languages:

        a. Cross-posting -- participants can cross-post any articles
which is related to the contents of hk.rec.alt-music into
hk.rec.alt-music newsgroups.
However, articles irrelavent to Alternative Music are not welcomed to
be cross-posted into hk.rec.alt-music.

        b. Flame wars -- hk.rec.alt-music is only a newsgroup for
the discussion of Alternative Music, not for anybody to flame others.
Hence, flame wars are prohibited.

        c. Foul languages -- Since hk.rec.alt-music is not a place
for the art of foul languages, foul languages should be prohibited in
hk.rec.alt-music.
