Hey, does anyone have a good source for a sturdy, big metal workbench?  I'm basically looking for something just like the soldering table we have now.  Pez, do you have something like that buried in your backyard?  I was looking at this sweet biddy with a phenolic topper:  http://www.chdist.com/browse/products/2628-relius-solutions-1-3-4-thick-dyna-top-workbenches.html  .  Anyone know anything about phenolic tables?  thanks, I'll take my answer off the air.

I think phenolic is just a type of resin, used commonly in fiberboard,
bamboo flooring, etc. So you might do just as well with a sturdy table
base and a top made of scrap bamboo or a really heavy duty poly. Eco
ProCote makes a soy based poly for heavy duty and industrial use
called..um..Eco Tuff maybe?

I've been gawking at used industrial equipment over here:

Maybe there's something coming up for bid that would be perfect for you.
Otherwise, you could check the dumpsters outside of universities.
Those overfunded bastards are always throwing away perfectly serviceable
lab equipment.

I have (5) heavy wood benchtops that are 28" x 6-8' x 1.5" with cable management holes. You can have a few. I also have one corner block of the same material. I can show them tue.

I have one workbench/table kinda thing.  It has wheels on one side and retractable handles on the other and a large 2 or 4 plug outlet with long extension cord.

I don't want to give it away or really sell it but I kind of have to.  I didn't try to sell it anywhere.

Let me know if anyone may find it helpful.
