We are offering a hands on aluminum casting workshop where participants will learn how to make greensand molds and cast small pieces in aluminum. No previous experience needed.

Date: Saturday, December 8th, 10am-5pm

Cost: $50 per person (Includes materials)  Pay via PayPal here.

Cool beans, be sure and get pictures / video for the rest of us! Sounds like good fun. Always wanted to try that.

If anybody has anything they want cast I read recently you can do direct burn out of PLA and ABS. (ie. Form sand or investment around plastic and pour metal in vaporizing it) sort of like lost foam casting.

Sculpture gym memberships are $100/mo now but new member rates will go up alot as soon as they open. We're thinking about donating the use of alot of our big equipment to them and then just use the $100 membership. Maybe they would work an organizational rate out with the Hive if you were interested.

I have a few PLA Yodas I'd love to practice metal casting with. If anyone wants to do this and you are around Hive at open house tomorrow I can give them to you then.

Heh, I was going to try and cast some Tardigrades in Aluminium, but I can't seem to get a good print.
