Anyone up for joining the SOPA protest blackout, day after tomorrow?

... and is there an easy way to implement a one day re-direct of our
blog page to a blackout page (e.g. "HIVE76 is dark today, in protest
of SOPA")

You could replace the main index.php with one that talks about SOPA.  Just change index.php to something like index-backup.php and swap them back on the 19th.

there's a few options, including a wordpress plugin. I like the shadowbox splash page, but we could come up with our own.

There is an automatic SOPA plugin for wordpress, which is pretty
awesome. I one-click downloaded and set it up yesterday, and hope it
works.

I've been pushing to have Thingiverse agree to go offline for the day
(or fade-to-black effect). We'll see if I can convince the web heads
to do that.....

After getting bit by an exploit in the new WP trader plugin, I'd say
stay away from new plugins. Just switch the HTML.

Oooh, what if we took a screenshot of the main page, then black-bar-censored (or red, since our background is already black, it would be hard to tell) out all of the interesting details and use that as our page?

I think the black actually looks alright.

ahh, that's awesome!

what if we did something like the shadowed letters, but had a 'click to continue' button that took you to our site censored like this?

Could just not worry about it. Unless you want to take the time to save the HTML output of the page and insert all the <span style="background-color:black">some text</span>.

I kind of like Sean's idea, but as Adam pointed out, making it layout-
proof would be hard and the fact that it's a SOPA protest might be
lost on many visitors.

The site itself doesn't actually scale that well for screen size. A static image will scroll and zoom mostly the same way the site would.

maybe we could use a jive-filter to replace all non-language articles (like "a" and "the") with something like "redacted" or "....."
