Well, I see it's been two months since anyone's last posted in this community forum.

Recently I revisited HistoryPin to start uploading some new photos, but not much has changed on the site. Still pretty buggy.

And now today trying to get to HistoryPin a popup message alerts that Google has disabled the maps on the site.
"See the Terms of service for more information".

It was such a neat idea, I guess it was just ahead of its time, maybe lacked features that would make the site itself more of a community, ways to get users feeling like part of a community rather than just isolated visitors.

Nothing is denied for me 'Translusence'; perhaps just a transient condition.

Maybe something are missing from your expectations but I wonder what it is that you find to be 'Still pretty buggy'? Perhaps it would help the team if you shared them here.

Regards,
Mike

Translucence,

I am left wondering if we are all looking at the same site? Can you
confirm that you are at http://www.historypin.com ? And if so, which
precise page you are on? A screen capture would be useful displaying
any errors.

As a fellow user all I can say is that the team at Historypin have
always responded positively to constructive feedback and often made
quite quick enhancements to address issues that have been reported.
And on a broader level the site has undergone continual development
including, within the last few months, quite a significant design
overhaul and several new projects. Yes, the group has been quiet of
late, but I think we've all been too busy pinning!

Regards,

James

Hi crshort, thanks for flagging that.  This seems to be an issue only in Australia at the moment, and we are chasing it down.

Thanks Mike and James for checking on it on your end, and to our other users who've been checking in on their reports around the world. We're presently up across Europe and the United States, which we've verified with multiple user reports.  The London team is on this, though it's after business hours there and we may not know more until the morning in London.

Hi Mr Translucent

As Jon says, the Maps issue seems to be something that has affected the site in Australia, but not anywhere else, so we're monitoring it closely.

This may be connected to very high levels of traffic and activity recently on Historypin, including some recent growth in new territories with large audiences, such as Russia.

If you wanted to share any comments on other bugs, please do - that's exactly what this forum is for and we appreciated any feedback and will look into it quickly.

I'm very glad that you think its a neat idea and you'll be glad to know that the project is growing very well! We're upgrading our social and community features this year and we'll look forward to seeing what you think of the new features as they emerge.

Thanks all for your feedback on this

Nick

Ah! Excellent news!
Okay I'll post some of the bugs. The main one I'm interested in right now is the Android app not showing most pictures - say only 3 in an area that has 20. (Not new pictures, existing ones)
I'll write it up as a separate thread.
There's also another one where after adding photos they do not appear for a while in your "most recent" list. This feels like an issue I had last August, but since I know the site is an ongoing thing, I'll look more into it.
cheers!

For those playing along at home, this was my screenshot I took this morning when the map wasn't appearing.

Thankfully the map does appear now.

Hi Christoper,

Thanks for the confirmation that all is working for you, we've had other feedback too that all is OK so looks like it was a localised blip.

With regard to recent photos not showing immediately, can you let me know which browser and operating system you are using? They usually so appear immediately in the list, though they can take a little while to appear on the map.

Similarly with the Android app, if send through details on your phone and operating system version we will investigate.

Thanks everyone for all your help and map reports!

Warm wishes,

Rebekkah
