UPDATE: Claims may be failing in PCON due to 5010 claim edits |
|
NOTE: This alert applies to customers with STAR, PCON, EC2000 and/or Relay Assurance/ePremis.
ISSUES:
1. If Oupatient UB Claims retained in STAR have no admit date, then these claims will not be accepted by PCON.
2. If no admit date was present for a claim when information was formatted for the Electronic Claim System, then the system date was used for the admit date prior to F10944.
RESOLUTION
· STIs F10943 and F10951 were released so the admit date, discharge hour, and admitting diagnosis are obtained from account data when the data is not present in claim data. If you are experiencing this problem, then we recommend loading F10943 and F10951 as soon as possible.
· STI F10949 will be released in STAR to resend any standard claims that have exhausted their allowed resend attempts and any pass-through claims released in this time frame. This allows the claims rejected by PCON due to no admission date to be re-sent. An additional alert will be sent to communicate the expected release date and other details for F10949. This STI (F10949) will require that STI F9725 be loaded with or before it and that STIs F10943, F10951 and F10944 be loaded with or before it.
· If EC2000 and/or Relay Assurance/ePremis is used and STAR Claim Load and Edit Parameters were updated to not load the admission date in locator 12, then McKesson recommends loading F10944 as soon as possible so an incorrect admission date is not formatted for the ECS Interface.
STIs F10943 and F10951 will populate the missing fields listed below using account data if the claim data is not present for the PCON Interface. McKesson recommends loading F10943, F10951, and F10944 STI’s as soon as possible so data is provided to interfaced systems as needed.
Outpatient UB claims are being sent from STAR to PCON with up to three fields missing:
· Admit Date · Discharge Hour · Admit Diagnosis
Based on directions from payors; parameters and/or data were changed so these fields would be blank on the claim. These changes could have occurred in STAR, EC2000, or Relay Assurance.
Prior to loading F10943 and F10951, the following actions can be taken to reduce the number of claims to be re-sent when F10949 is available.
For STAR/EC2000 customers: · In STAR – check the Claim Load and Edit Parameters (CLEP) to make sure that Internal Elements are defined for Admission Date, Admission Diagnosis, and Discharge Hour. · In EC2000 – disable edits 19194 and 19195 (for EC2000 customers on Release 15. Please log a service order with Support) · In STAR – set the PCON Resend days to at least 30 days to avoid additional claims expiring from the Resend Report. Verify file system space. PCON run times may increase.
For STAR/Relay Assurance/ePremis customers: · In STAR – check the Claim Load and Edit Parameters (CLEP) to make sure that Internal Elements are defined for Admission Date, Admission Diagnosis, and Discharge Hour. If the CLEP parameters are defined you may have to contact ePremis support at 800-457-1209. Bridge routines can be written to remove the data inbound to ePremis. · In STAR – set the PCON Resend days to at least 30 days to avoid additional claims expiring from the Resend Report. Verify file system space. PCON run times may increase.
Additional impacts expected that will not be minimized by the above actions: · In PCON – any activity (payments, adjustments, and refunds) will be rejected because the claim is not in PCON. Contact PCON support for assistance in evaluating the Payment Error Worklist. · In PCON – any denials and appeals will be rejected because the claim is not in PCON. Denials and Appeals will be evaluated as the service order is reported.
RETROFITTING Customers who are on a STAR release prior to 16.0 will require a work order to retrofit the following STIs referenced in this alert: F10943, F10944, F10949, and F10951. Customers who are on a STAR release prior to 15.0 will require a work order to retrofit F9725.
· F10943 was released on 1/12/12 for customers using PCON Interface file format 8 · F10951 was released on 1/24/12 for customers using PCON Interface file format 7 · F10944 was released on 1/19/12 · F9725 was released on 11/15/11 (this STI is applicable to STAR releases 15.0 and higher)
If you have any questions or require additional information, please log a standard service order via the Customer Portal.

I’ve set up plenty of new Revenue departments in Star using various SIM codes that we’ve had.
I am trying to set up a brand new SIM dept, and am unable to. If my memory is correct, (which yes it’s on overload) only SIM departments can be created by McKesson. Is this correct?
If not, would someone please give me the simple steps to create. I am under a time crunch as this unit is going live next Tuesday.
Thnx in advance.

That is correct. McKesson has to create the dept. Just let them know which of your current SIM depts you want them to mirror it after.

I have a C sign-on but there are globals and things that need to be added that I had no idea what to select. McKesson informed me that they need to add those anyway.
HMMMMMM you can add your own SIM deparetments with your ‘C’ signon. I do it ALL the time. The globals that McKesson is talking about are your actual screens, ZBlocks, etc which if you just go into another department that is like the new one you want to build you can enter in the same codes.
After you build your department just remember you have to fill out the SIM Department page under Table Maintenance and you have to create the FDL and FVDL reports.

You must be on a really old version, then. Or have a special relationship with McK. They took this away from us a couple of years ago.
No we are on 16.0, I remember when we first started back in 1997 I had all kinds of powers were I was able to delete FIM’s, Clone/Create a new facility, make actual screen changes, etc and I remember a while ago I was stripped of that power. But, I can still create departments, etc.
