We went live with Star on October 1, 2011….we were just informed recently that we have a doctor’s office that we do his professional billing….we have patient registration and charges that need to be done from October.  We have no problem entering the OP admission back date of October, November, etc. registering the patient with no problem, however, when we put in the charge it will not allow us to enter the charge date of the admission date we entered, says “invalid date”….is there a parameter that I would need to change to allow charges to be entered for October and November?  We cannot use the late charge as it says the patient is active so I’m assuming we would have to wait until the suspense days are up, but not sure the late charge will allow us to enter that date either.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I think there is a parameter in the SIM dept table that controls backdating of charges.

Are you making sure to input the year?   I’ve seen that error when submitting charges after the first of the year for a prior year.

Have you tried entering 2011, rather than just 11?
thanks

you will need to change the dates you can back date charges in Hospital Facility Options.  Late Charge Days.  Check that field.  You are correct, you may have to wait until the patient becomes inactive.

The below is true if you are doing 'late charges' but if you want to backdate charges on current active accounts, you have to go into the SIM Department table, pull up the SIM Department and change field #10 to the appropriate number.
