Today we've pushed an initial version of HipHop onto GitHub at http://github.com/facebook/hiphop-php.  This source should build on CentOS 5.2 and Ubuntu 9.10.  Any specific hard to find libraries are bundled where the license permits.

Remember that while we're running HipHop in production it might not yet be stable for you.  You should be comfortable with this sort of software as it's the first public release.

Over the next week we'll work to remove the requirement of having a custom libcurl requirement and libevent if possible.  Today's branch has a limited commit history, but we'll push out another branch next week with a restructured layout and it will become the branch to track moving forward.

Check out the wiki for documentation, starting with http://github.com/facebook/hiphop-php/wikis/building-and-installing and thenhttp://github.com/facebook/hiphop-php/wikis/running-hiphop.

GitHub also has an issue tracker which you should feel free to use: http://github.com/facebook/hiphop-php/issues

If you have any patches, please email them to the list, or request a pull from your fork.

Cheers,
Scott

I've got a branch going at http://github.com/demon/hiphop-php,
will try to get this compiled on OSX 10.6.2. No promises, and it's
probably for my own sick pleasure :)

Makes for some very interesting code reading, thanks !

Note to whomever wants to build on Ubuntu: this is only for the 64 bit
version yet: it doesn't compile at the moment (type incompatibility in
the zend_*.cpp files) on 32-bit karmic.

I'm finding this out the hard way.

Scott didn’t say too much about himself, but he spent a lot of effort for the past two weeks cleaning up our codebase for this moment, intermixed with his busy travel schedule and flu viruses. We’d give him one round of applause. Thanks, Scott!

I would imagine you WILL still run into all sorts of problems, and we’re ready to help everyone going through this phase. Just let us know. If you don’t hear responses, please continue to ping us, in case we’re buried with emails. Thanks!!

Also, while we will spend the initial 2 or 3 months to mostly help people with installation and compilation problems, please feel free to comment on any thing you don’t like. We may not able to turn around to solve every one of them quickly, but we are definitely here to listen and we will be happy to change the code into the ways you want.

Hello,

Thank you for everything !

Anyone already working on a Gentoo ebuild of the recent release of
hiphop ? (dependencies etc..)
I just don't want to work on a almost existent package.

Thank you for reading,
Yann
