स्वयं अपने (svay.N apne)

I have a little sentence I'm not sure about...it's part of a debate about the importance of trees versus mankind.  I am sure that the उनकी (unkii) is in reference to the trees. 

उनकी रक्षा तो स्वयं अपने प्राणों से भी अधिक करनी चाहिये। (un kii rakshaa to svay.n apne praaNo.n se bhii adhik karnii chaahiye)

I translated that as "Their protection is even more important than that of our own lives."

I figure I either got it exactly right or missed something grammatically:-)
