mai.N bolnaa chahatii huu.N   May I have some water?   mai.N boltii kaun hai?   1)  krpayaa, mai.N kuch paanii pitii saktii huu.N?   2) kypayaa, mai.N kuch paanii piiuuN kyaa huu.N?   I wanted to use the polite way of saying this, and all I could find was; "mujhko paanii caahiye", which seems to me to be a bit rude.  Sort of a command instead of a polite way to ask for something.   Shukriiyaa,                   Peggy

You can say "Kya mujhe thoda pani mil sakega?"
OR  "Krapya, mujhe thoda pani de sakenge?"
In Hindi this in all right and polite.

Better translation of "May I have some water" will be "thoda paani milega kya?" Mujhe is imlied in this sentence.
