नमस्ते दोस्तों…

Yes, still reading हम सब के घर by Narendra Kohli and have run into a sentence that I think I am totally missing the nuance of:

"अरे भई, कुछ बताओ भी तो कि आखिर समस्या क्या है?"  (are bha'ii, kuchh bataao bhii to ki aakhir samasyaa kyaa hai?)
Given the context of the story, I know the bare bones is "tell me what the problem is now", but clearly that's missing a lot.  I'm not even sure how to translate the भई (bha'ii)...he's talking to his son.  Maybe "Hey, Buddy"?

I don't know of an exact parallel of 'bha_ii' in English. But 'hey
buddy' should work. I would translate it as:

"Hey buddy, tell me, what's the problem after all?"

One other unrelated point. In your address to the group above, it
should be दोस्तो instead of दोस्तों.
