While you are working on your 2012 goals, please include the newly formed 2012 Texas Ultra Cup Challenge.

Why: We have formed this race series in an attempt to make Ultra racing/ riding more fun, more competitive, add another Award to your Trophy case, entice you to do more than one Ultra event a year, urge you to travel this great state we call Texas, allow you to bond with fellow like minded riders and to help grow the sport. We feel like The 2012 Texas Ultra Cup Challenge has the ability to do all this and more. By teaming up with your comrades, sharing travel expenses and crew, maybe even a tent, we hope that friendships will be formed, memories created and a new high in Ultra riding achieved. Knowing that the team next to you, will most likely be at the next race in the series, should create more camaraderie.

When & Where:  2012 there will be 3 Races in The 2012 Texas Ultra Cup Challenge :

Bessie’s Creek - April 14-15, 2012 - Brookshire, Texas - http://bessiescreek24.com/

24 Hours in the Canyon – June , 2012 – Palo Duro Canyon - Amarillo, Texas - http://24hoursinthecanyon.org/

The Texas Time Trials – September 27-29 – Glen Rose, Texas – http://tt24tt.com

Why these 3 races? All three contain a 6 hour race, a 12 hour race and a 24 hour races. All three are easily “self crewed” and do not require an expensive follow entourage. All three are in Texas. The races are reasonably spaced out to allow for recovery time. All are what I call family friendly races, consisting of multiple laps on a single looped course, crew and family members are encouraged to camp out and be a part of the adventure.

Each solo rider - (upright, bent or HPV), team-mate, tandem captain and stoker that competes in all three races regardless of total points, will earn a custom Award, suitable of their accomplishment. There will be 4 different divisions, a 6 hour (solo only), 12 hour, 24 hour, and an open division for those that may want to do different length races at each event, and or do the Tejas 500. Within each division will be categories for male and female solos, male – female or mixed teams and tandems. Points will be awarded based on finish  placement in each of the three different races, the person, team and tandem with the most points after the last race in each division and category will be awarded first place. This may be much easier than you think, with 4 different divisions and all of the different combinations of categories within each division there could be 100 first place Awards.

There is no entry fee and no registration paper work required for The 2012 Texas Ultra Cup Challenge. The results from the first race will be given to the second race director and so on. Race directors will pay for all Awards. Awards will be presented at The Texas Time Trials Awards Bash following the finish of the last race.

Think about it, this could be an Epic adventure that will be talked about for decades, DD
