Subject: Barrel - RIS Recipe

Here is what I have brewed several times and always like the outcome.  More
than welcome to discuss changes I found a nice article on the Brewers
Association site about this style and was surprised at the amount of sugar
additions so that may be a good idea to help out brewers who are pushing
the limit of their mash tun with this much grain.  I know I need to bust
out my big tun to brew this. A 10 Gal igloo is pushing it.

Here is the article
http://www.brewersassociation.org/pages/business-tools/publications/t...

Here is my recipe attached is the Beersmith file if anyone wants it along
with a BeerXML format.  I'll have to do some work and come up with an
extract version.

A RIS is a big beer. Any other discussion on another style if not everyone
wants to make one this big?

Any big beer is going to have a lot of grain, right?  I may need to brew on
your setup, Michael.  I don't have a kettle big enough for 8 gallons of
wort.  Any objection to a partial mash?

I'm assuming the hops are pellets.  Also wondering about the color on the
roasted barley and black malt, since they are listed SRM.  Is that
equivalent to L in a grain color?  So roasted barley at only 300L?
