HURON HIGH SCHOOL
TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2012


1.  There will be a Cross Country meeting after school today in Mr. Nemire's room 215, for those interested in participating next year.

2.  Physical forms are available in the high school office if you are planning on going to the school physicals on Wednesday, May 16, at Firelands Hospital South Campus.  The cost is $10 and the time is from 5 pm - 7 pm.

3.  Attention Students!
Do you need help preparing for your final Exams?
Come  join us for TUTORFEST on Tuesday May 15, Wednesday May 16 and Thursday May 17th!
We have expert tutors and teachers available to help you make note cards, study and review study guides.

Get ahead and come to Tutorfest. There will be food and drinks provided!

4.  The Admiral's point Nursing home is hosting a "prom" for the Senior citizens that reside there.  They would like a few Huron High School students (guys and gals) to come and assist them.  The "prom" will be this Thursday from 6:30 - 8:30.  Please dress formally for this very special dance!  Please sign up ASAP in the Guidance office if you can attend.
 
5.  Attention all Spanish Club members:  There will be a brief Spanish Club meeting in Mrs. Arambula's room today after school to discuss officers for next year and also the Spring Arts festival.  Please plan on attending.  Also, to all Spanish Club members:  We need people to sign up to work at the Spring Arts festival selling tacos.  If you are not participating in the Spring Arts Festival, please see Señora Arambula to sign up for a time to work.  You can receive community service hours for working. 

6.  Attention all students:  All library materials are due Friday, May 18th.  Please return your materials to the library.  Seniors:  All library materials must either be returned or paid for prior to your last day!

7.  Attention former STAR Leadership campers:  If you are a current freshman or sophomore who participated in prior STAR summer Leadership camps you now have an opportunity to help lead a camp.  Any interested students please stop by the office to see the dates available for sign up.  You will receive community service hours for your time.

8.  The "Veggie U" has a need throughout the school year and during the summer for volunteers to help them with various projects, such as assembling kits or stuffing envelopes for mailing.  You may call them at 419-499-7500 for further information.

9.  Attention all girls grades 9 - 11!  Are you interested in being a member of the Tigerettes Dance and Drill team?  Tryouts are the week of May 21st after school at the high school. If you have any questions please see Mr. Ladd or a current Tigerette!

10.  French Club members:  If you are interested in becoming an officer next year, your paragraphs are due to Madame today.  Also, a reminder the French club will be having their crepe festival after school on Thursday, May 17th.  You will meet in Mrs. Fahr's room.

11.  There will be no basketball shooting or open gyms next week due to exams and graduation.

12.  Yearbooks for the 2011-2012 school year are on sale!! Visit the website www.yearbookordercenter.com, put in our school order number 4157, and follow the simple instructions to complete your order. Don't miss out on this opportunity to preserve your high school memories! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Lee.

13.   Any student interested in trying out for the Huron High School Academic Challenge team should plan on attending a brief meeting in Mr. Blevins' room Wednesday, May 16th, at 3:00 p.m.  Information will be provided regarding requirements to make the team.  Current members must also try out, and should plan on attending if they wish to be considered for the 2012-2013 team.  See Mr. Blevins if you have any questions or cannot make the meeting due to athletic events.

14.  Students are reminded that if they are under the age of 18 and will be getting a summer job, you will need a work permit.  Please plan ahead. If you do not have a valid physical on file you will need to get that from your physician.  Our summer office hours will be 6 am - 2 pm.

15.  PSEOP students:  Once you schedule your PSEOP classes at Firelands you should be sure to stop by the Guidance Office to adjust your HHS schedule. 

16.   The library is open all day today.

17.  Lunch choices today from the cafeteria are burgers or deli subs.
