ANNOUNCEMENTS - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2010
1. There will be a Student Council meeting in room 203 after school
today. All members must attend.
2. Any junior or senior interested in joining Great Books Forum should
meet in
Ms. Kukay's room (203) today after school.
3. The library is closed all week.
4. There will be short meeting this Thursday after school at 3:00 for all
girls planning on playing basketball this season. The meeting will be in
Coach Lee's room. Any girl who cannot make the meeting should see Coach
Lee in her room before Thursday. Open gyms for girls basketball will start
next Monday night at 7:00-9:00 pm. Open gyms will be in the high school
gymnasium.
5. Here is an opportunity to complete easy community service hours. The
Rev3 (the Cedar Point Triathlon) is coming to town September 12th.
Volunteer at this event and earn community service hours for yourself
while supporting the community and Big Brother Big Sisters. Please stop
by the office and pick up a Rev3 flyer, with directions on how to
volunteer on the back.
6. Want to be a kid again and earn community service hours? Come join
LOGOS at the Huron United Methodist Church after school on Wednesdays and
enjoy a snack and great meals! Contact Jackie Hamilton for more
information at 419-271-0441.
7. Ripcho Studio will be here on Monday, September 13th, to take pictures
of the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Packets will be handed out in
homeroom tomorrow. Please remember to bring these with you on Monday
morning, filled out, with your payment .
8. The Huron High School Vocal Music Department is sponsoring a Family
Getaway and Fundraiser on Thursday, October 14th. Have a blast at
America's largest indoor waterpark! Guest rooms are just $118, sleep four
and include waterpark admission for four. There are a limited number of
rooms available at this rate. Call today to avoid being shut out! Please
mention "Huron Vocal Music Department" when making reservations. A
portion of the proceeds benefit the HHS Vocal Music Department. Please
call 877-KALAHARI to make reservations.
9. Youth bowling leagues sign-ups at Riverview Lanes are this Saturday,
September 11th, from 10 am - 4pm. There is free bowling during sign-ups
for the entire family as well as free pizza and pop for the ones signing
up that day.
10. News from the Huron Public Library: Huron Public Library has chess
classes, Saturday, September 11 from 10 AM - 12:30 PM and Wednesday,
September 22 from 5:30 � 7:30 PM. These are free and open for all ages and

Teen Library Council (TLC) is looking for new members! If you are going to
be in the 7th through 12th grade and would like to make a difference at
Huron Public Library while having some fun, join the Teen Library Council.

council meets monthly during the school year. In September, old and new
members alike can attend either Monday, September 13 or Friday, September
17 from 3- 4:30 PM. Along with mapping out our year, we will be playing
�Chain Reaction.� Hope you can join us!
11. Attention All Students: Be sure you are utilizing the online
Progress Book to monitor your grades, check homework assignments, or to
visit teacher websites. Please see Mrs. Hahn, in the guidance office, if
you do not remember your password, or need to create a new one.
12. Seniors: the application for the "Elk's Student of the Month" are
available in the Guidance Office. Nominees will be judged on the basis of
multiple achievements - character, leadership, service, citizenship and
scholastic achievement. They are due to the Guidance Office no later than
September 30.
13. The Guidance Office has an assortment of free folders. If you need
one....or two....please stop in.
