The most simple way to resolve this issue is to open a command prompt
and go to the HFM installer folder. Usually C:\Program Files\
HFM.NET
or C:\Program Files (x86)\
HFM.NET. Then simply type the following to
start HFM.
HFM.exe /r
The /r switch will tell HFM to reset the user preferences before
starting. This effectively deletes your old user preferences file and
then recreates it using the defaults. I just reproduced this error
and was able to successfully start HFM using this method. There is no
need to uninstall/reinstall.
