You're right -- any XMPP server can theoretically be used with
Hemlock, but ejabberd is simply the server that we chose to
concentrate on.

There may be some ejabberd-specific code lurking deep inside. If you
decide to fork the project on GitHub and patch it to work with other
XMPP servers, please let us know!

The docs say that ejabberd is a requirement of Hemlock. I guess I
don't understand XMPP as well as I thought (total noob either way),
but isn't the server separate from the client, and shouldn't it be
possible for a server like Prosody to be used?

Thanks!

-Mike

 Hey,

The JS API is still in progress:
[link]

Now that you have Ejabberd running, the tricky part is over. When
Hemlock 0.2 released, it'll come with a small example JS app that
shows how to communicate with the XMPP room.

 Hey there,

The JavaScript API isn't ready yet; there are a few more essential
features left to implement and test. When it's ready, it'll be
announced in the Hemlock blog, and released in the GitHub repository.

The goal is that you'll no longer have to write any ActionScript.
You'll just write JavaScript, and it'll run some ActionScript hooks

On further reading the code and log, I find the session chatroom is
used to send broadcast of type "room_configured", which triggers
AppEvent.ROOM_CONFIGURED in every connected client. If the client has
RoomListWidget, it will call container.discoChatRooms() to get room
list again. I couldn't figure why RoomListWidget need to refrest room
