First, a big thanks to Jarvis--despite facing a production crunch at
work, he's got HelpMatch.net up and accessible!
The HelpMatch wiki is at: http://www.helpmatch.net/index.php/Main_Page
Action items: If you haven't, add yourself to the HelpMatch members on
the wiki.
2. Notes from the April 2 meeting
Thanks to
-- Barry, Jerry, Carl, and Craig (on the phone from Minnesota) for
making the meeting. I was also there.
-- Al for the vision slideset.
-- Carl and Fusion Alliance for hosting the meeting on Monday evening.
We spent time reviewing the purpose of a vision "pitch":
-- to get the attention of Board of Director candidates
-- to set direction for our work
-- to bring new people up to speed on what we're doing
We reviewed the vision. We shared scenarios that motivate the
HelpMatch vision, and we came to the conclusion that we need a vision
pitch that in just moments compells interest and paints the vision in
a way that is exciting, powerful.
We decided to hold a day-long "vision jam" to work on "How will
HelpMatch work" so we can make the vision gripping not just in its
intent, but in the sense that we know how it will work. The outcome
will be an "imagine if" vision pitch that is vivid, as well as a good
sense of what we need to do to get this built!
Barry told stories about Lucious Newsom (http://www.catholic.org/
national/national_story.php?id=20530). Lucious Newsom is, in person,
doing the kind of help-need matches that we want HelpMatch to help
automate. This gave rise to the idea of interviewing Lucious and
others as we prepare for the "vision jam."
ACTION ITEMS
-- identify subject matter experts to interview to collect vision
input
-- think of interview questions; send to Ruth to create master
interview list
-- if you know someone who could help us craft the vision (great at
envisioning, great at drawing, etc.) let us know
-- if you want to take part in the vision jam, let Ruth know. Let's do
a quick round of input to Ruth on: "Weekend day only" versus "Week day
only" versus "Any day of the week." We want to get this done soon (by
early May, latest).
-- if you can arrange a meeting space for a day, please let us know
that too
