After just four months since its inauguration, the Acropolis Museum
issued its millionth ticket on October 29.
Thus the Acropolis Museum found its place in the list of the most
visited cultural institutions worldwide.

Open daily except Mondays, the Museum receives approximately 9,000 to
10,000 visitors per day, among whom
70% are foreigners and 30% Greeks. Ahead of all foreign visitors are
Americans, followed by Europeans.

The current average of 1,500 visitors per hour is highly likely to
increase following the impending opening of
the outdoor path leading to the underground exhibits, discovered
during the excavations.

To address growing demand, the Museum’s administration is also considering the
possibility of extending visiting hours until eleven o’ clock at night.
