Might be cool to go after this. I think we do 10 cool things in the lab in a month. 10 people could each do one.

Ryan I know you do a lot of instructables. What do you think?

I actually really like instructables. I was out in SF last May and
got to meet their team, who all seemed like awesome hackers who
legitimately care about doing cool things and supporting people doing
cool things.

And then talking with some of them later, the "contests" and things
that they do seem more like excuses to give hardware away to
hackerspaces, which I think is also really cool.

I say we do this...but keep in mind that there are some REALLY GOOD
makers that make REALLY GOOD things for some of these contests, so
getting selected for sponsorship could be tough.

Although, honestly, even if we didn't, instructables is a good
community. I know at least a couple of projects I've done have been
at the encouragement of some of the other posters there. I think it
would be good to expose some of the lab to that.

I basically have nothing negative to say about them at all. LETS DO IT!

I can pledge to get my countertop project finished and write an
instructable for it. (Based on this: http://imgur.com/a/4qcbb)

I like this idea. I'd be willing to help come up with some guides.

No need to ask Jacob; from the website: just write a Step-by-Step Instructable and once we have 10, compile them into a guide. For help on how to submit your guide, please see http://www.instructables.com/sponsorship/details.jsp

Who's got a project they can write an Instructable on? I could do one for my shift register LED matrix, or RFID interlock...

Agreed. I'm not personally heading this one up, just saw it as a neat opportunity.

Just write an Instructable and before you publish it, click the link to see how to tie it in with the HeatSync group :)

Reading the page, it says the 10 instructables must be compiled into an entire guide. Won't theyall need to be related?

Not necessarily; Radio Shack has a guide titled "RadioShack presents 18 More Awesome Projects"
http://www.instructables.com/id/RadioShack-presents-18-More-Awesome-Projects/

They're all electronics projects, but I'd venture we could submit a guide on "10 Awesome Projects from HeatSync" if they really didn't share a theme.

Hmm, we could do 10 guides around a specific project, I actually think that would be really cool.

For instance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkLduKd57Cs  (Alyson's bumper bot)

1) Connecting your arduino to your computer
2) Lighting LEDs [gotta light the robot]
3) Operating a switch [the bumper]
4) Laser cutting the chassis
5) Servo library
6) Continuous rotation servos
7) [now adding stuff] Using a bluetooth module
8) etc.
9) etc.
10) etc.
